Amen! This verse, Beth, is a constant reminder for all of us who are being sanctified in CHRIST JESUS, to guard our heart and never trade it for treasure that is accumulated out of covetousness. A good reminder of our GOD and Savior, JESUS CHRIST. GOD bless you and your family!
True, Jim, may we be on guard! It is one of the sins that may lead to another if unchecked and that we should pray to GOD to help us rid it off our system. I just recently added this set of verses in the sanctification subseries and removed 5 sets from Titus. I still find Titus 2:1-14 relevant to 2020 and in this subseries but I think it is best to have a separate series on thoses verses. GOD bless your and your family!
Amen! Continuing with our discussion in your second recent article. This last two days I’ve encountered the Lordship Salvation vs Free grace and last night I listened to a video in YT on the Comparison of 11 Theologies while ironing. These includes the 2 red flags of RC and universalism. Even the 9 “Biblical” theologies is hard to distinguish and memorize the difference when applied to real life. I just surrender my “striving” not to sin to GOD alone in His grace alone through JESUS CHRIST alone, accepting it by faith alone, everything in His work alone in my salvation, and to His glory alone; while being conscious not to sin that much knowing the HOLY SPIRIT is working on me i.e. convicting, guiding, and interceding.
Amen! After our discussion, Mandy, I continued a last minute changes in the sequence and list of verses on sanctification, taking cue on yesterday’s verse. This verse is a call by JESUS to guard ourselves from covetness as presumably the feeling of the aggrieved brother (Luke 12:14). The succeeding parable shows the futility and vanity of accumulation (that parable will be posted in a separate series in the near future). We will touch Ecclesiastes in this subsubseries. I can’t imagine thinking of Disney’s Rescue Rangers’ iconic animal to represent the notion of “keeping up with the Jones’s.” GOD bless you and your entire family!
I love Ecclesiastes! That is one of the most needed messages right now! Without the Triune God everything under the sun is meaningless/vanity/futile/fleeting mist.
I love the Rescue Rangers reference! Envy and covetousness go together. I hate the whole “keeping up with the Jones’s mentality.” As you know we have been HG TVing our home for months, our next door neighbor wants to be like the Jones’s. We are changing things to what we like not to one up or impress anybody else. I am so thankful for you and your friendship! Nathan says, “less than a week until Mandalorian!” We both say, “God bless you and your entire household!”
True, Mandy, people, especially believers, must be be reminded that all is meaningless/vanity indeed, including all effort under the sun. True, the only thing not futile is JESUS where can come to Him, take His yoke and find rest in His arms.
The opening jingle of Rescue Rangers still resonates in my ears. What a real life TV it is, talking about your neighbor, Mandy, take it as your home is their model. The important thing in interior designing is that it is pleasing to your eyes. Likewise, Mandy, I appreciate it all!😊 I’m very sure both you and Nathan are excited too seeing the bounty hunter with his frog-eating force-sensitive companion. Who else will be here in this season? That we will find out in the weeks to come if there are new jedis around.
That is discipline, Nathan, of the creators of the marvel movies, they were able to kept it secret just for season 1. So now, what secrets do they have for season 2. Will it be Ahsoka or Luke. The latter is still wishful thinking for season2, perhaps the 4th season it is possible.
Yes, Lesley, it reminded me what your dogs 🐕 love to chase.🐿 I had that in mind when choosing among the pictures for the set of verses. We will always guard our heart as the verse implies; seeking GOD to help us fight it. GOD bless you and your family! 🙂
That is the truth, Alan! Everything that we enjoy now is finite and fleeting. True, we give our devotion to the Triune GOD in preparation for worshipping Him eternally. Indeed, we are grateful to our Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST for making this possible. GOD bless you and your family!
Another song, it is, ma’am Bonnie! But it is true for us and our effort in relation to GOD’s divine plan. That we will always take into account in our sanctification process. To focus more on GOD’s glory! A blessed Sunday ahead!
Opo, Ed! Lalo nang araw-araw naging sakim ang isang tao. Naging idolatrya na. Dapat ma pasaloob niya ang aral ng DIYOS at ito ipag reflect niya, at sa tulong ng DIYOS, magbago siya.
Thank you, Donna! It was GOD’s inspiration. Honestly, it took me time to think about the picture for covetness that is not offensive or dull and still no idea until, I would say, GOD give inspiration…squirrels! And thank GOD there is only one picture available in the free picture sites. GOD bless you and your family!
True, Donna, we are grateful to GOD, especially in the helpless moments of our life, He steps in our aid. GOD bless you, your family, and your ministry team!
Actually, it is hard to think of a graphics that is not offensive or dull on covetness. My previous picture in June was a man holding a binocular. So to give more “teeth” to the picture, I added those words in the box. The font really gives it away.
Continuing our conversation: Its amazing how other games these days borrow from Civilization and I know it was rather popular back then. I did try playing a Civil War game early during the start of the virus lockdown but it took so much time away I had to quit after three days. I definitely enjoy our discussion of all things, be it sewage, environment, technology, etc, All things good are from God, be it common grace gifts or salvific and sanctification-related.
True, Jim, all things good are from GOD and we bless Him in gratitude for being our GOD who sees our need (e.g. progress in the medical field), all for His glory. You should watch it if you have the time, you can’t believe that those things are connected e.g. natural clouds and virtual ones. Command and conquer games are short games. I’ve been playing its games since 97 and right now, this mobile app of theirs is what I played hours ago.
The words of JESUS echoes throughout time, Crissy! Same thing when He said, “one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” We do enjoy and be content what the Triune GOD gives us knowing that salvation, that He gives and works in us, is far more important than any object, experience, or prize.
Amen!!!

Indeed covetousness is really a “gateway” to other sins! Good point. Thanks for sharing. I appreciate your planning of these Bible verse series

Per Nathan, “Kent, I have a baby yoda on my toolbox and I’m not ashamed of it! I still has no idea how the production crew kept baby yoda a secret!”
