    1. True, Mandy, it is salient! As we are ending this current subseries, we are reminded of JESUS’ command to love one another in this long process of our sanctification. You and Nathan are ready for…the spoilers. Kidding only. I’ll be watching The Mandalorian momentarily. GOD bless you and your entire family!

    1. Good morning, ma’am Bonnie! As stated by Paul, let us hold fast to what is good including love like JESUS CHRIST does. Paul, like John and Peter, echoes what JESUS has said that we love one another. GOD bless you and your family!

    1. True, Jim, it should be genuine. Paul echoes JESUS’ three recurring words and emphasizes that manifesting it should be genuine by “holding fast to what is good” such as having purely good intentions and not with interest. If it is not genuine, then it is not love really, it is just lip service.

        1. Good morning, Jim! Striving, holding it, and living it because of the Triune GOD’s work in us, can make it genuine. Grateful to GOD for this opportunity to know Him, His way, and will. Today’s post is about enemies in the backdrop of the Art of War’s arguably famous line.

        2. Wow will check today’s post in a bit! Been running ministry trips dropping off booklets for our youth group kids for them to read. Grateful to God for the opportunity as you said to know Him and His way

        3. True, Jim, and that kind of opportunity gives you inner peace and joy that so warm as GOD lets you feel and see again, as He did before, what “holding fast to what is good” is, under His sovereign direction and glory.

    2. Hey, Kent and Jimmy! So for the past two days, I have been pondering if there is any NT book that does NOT mention love. I can’t think of any. Whether it is to love God and others (Gospels and James), love being the better way (1 Cor 12-13) or that God lead us into love (2 Thes) active, agape love truly permeate the New Testament. As such, love should be manifested and shown in and through us. I am so thankful for this section of verses! Love and blessings to both of you and your entire families!

      1. Love is essential in us, Mandy, and without showing it we will be like a noisy gong, clanging cymbal, nothing, and gain nothing; inspite of having those GOD given gifts as Paul had mentioned in 1 Corinthians 13:1-3. Like inscribed in a t-shirt, among faith, hope and love, the greatest is love (v13). Watching it now.

      2. Wow Mandy that is a powerful point about the word love appearing in every New Testament book. Wow that is amazing. I checked on Bible gateway under the NASB and saw what you said. Love and blessings to you and Kent!

    1. Yes, Crissy, it is a wonderful thing and world! It will be like in heaven already, if not possible only in heaven. That means, all believers in JESUS CHRIST has their heart changed by GOD. There will be no in-fighting, no sense of enemies, nor rivalry. It would be wonderful too if GOD changes all of us humans to be like that. GOD has sovereign plans, He gives us a way to follow, and we carry our crosses in a world where Christians not so often “outdo each other in showing honor.” Talking about outdoing each other in showing honor, there is a secular song version on that, Crissy. The song is You’re the Top from the musical, Anything Goes.

      1. I am not familiar with the song . Thank you Clark . Maybe we could outdo each other in showing honour among “us”
        God’s people .
Have a blessed weekend. Hope all is well .

        1. GOD willing, Crissy, we will put in heart to outdo each other in giving honor genuinely; all for His glory. Grateful to GOD that we are well. We are praying for those who are vulnerable and will be severely affected by the strongest Typhoon of 2020. A blessed weeked too to you and your family!

    1. After watching the news and monitoring on the websites of both our national disaster and meteorological agencies, it seems it will be a very strong one (Category 5) and damages like that are expected. This is especially disasterous to low lying areas, hillside, beach fronts, and houses within and near the eye of the storm that are not built according to structural standards. We have to pray for them including the vulnerable people, for safety, and to seek GOD more.

        1. Thank you very much Jim! I really appreciate your prayers. Right now, it is sunny 🌞 and windy. After this big one, another one is also coming but more northwards. The latest trajectory shows Metro Manila might be part of the center, if not within the eye of the storm. Bracing for a possible power outage. Hospitals are required to have generator sets and back up gen sets too but we need to pray still. So eerie to see the sun so bright. Nothing is impossible with GOD.

        2. Yes, even now. It began to gloom hours ago and now, it is like summer outside but with wind like in the beaches. Thanking GOD for the opportunity for people to prepare on what they need for at least three days like food, back up power/light (powerbanks, flashlights) water, internet, among others, in case utilities and services will be interrupted. Everything is expected to be closed except offices that are involved or provide disaster response and relief.

        3. Jim, I really appreciated it, thank you very much! I’m grateful for your compassion for us. We really need those prayers. It is a strong one and it moves slowly (and the predicted langfall changes overtime) while maybe gaining momentum. Thank you very much for praying for us. I’ll will keep you updated on this storm.

        4. I’m so glad we heard from you, one of the brother from the Tuesday Bible study who now lives in Indonesia shared a news link to me to let me know and I told him to pray for you all

    1. You are right, Lesley, we all need to pray on this to GOD. We need the Triune GOD to work in us to constantly love genuinely without interests except GOD’s and holding fast to what is good. Thank you too, Lesley, for praying for our safety and the country. This is a stronger one and the last time we experienced another Category 5 was on November 8, 2013 and it was really a huge disaster. That was Typhoon Haiyan or locally known as Super Typhoon Yolanda.

        1. You know, Gersom, I’m just about to go out with the dogs and it hardly seems fair that, while others go about their normal lives, others are enduring so much suffering.
I will be praying all the while the dogs and I are out.
Stay as safe as you can. God be with you all!

        2. Lesley, may GOD bless your compassionate heart more. We all will pray and I’m praying your prayer too, that GOD will keep the people, who will be affected by this Category 5 Typhoon, safe and alive wherever they are sheltering. The dogs will be chasing the squirrels again.

        3. I felt like staying out for much longer today. I was out for hours. We saw some squirrels in the distance, but I think they must be getting wise to us now and keeping out of our way. I hope you all manage to have a restful night considering the circumstances.

        4. Walking on scenic places in fresh air is worth the extra time, Lesley. These squirrels have good memory and are cautious now; no fun at all 🐕. Yes, we did, today is still sunny but windy. Tomorrow might not be like this anymore. There is a possibility that the lahar in all three covered volcanoes might overflow. We will pray to GOD for His mercy and love. Good morning!

  1. The Greek term here rendered “abhor” (a·po·sty·geʹo) is the intensive form of the Greek verb meaning “hate,” and thus literally means “hate intensely.” A person’s failing to abhor what is wicked, no longer loathing it, can result in his becoming an object of Jehovah God’s abhorrence….and that would be a miserable position to be in.
Unfortunately millions of people who belong to various churches are not being taught to intensely hate what’s wicked and many merrily indulge in things that the Bible says we should intensely hate

    1. Good sunny morning, Ed! Yes, we should hate sin so much and not follow the ways of evil but instead we follow the way of JESUS–our GOD and Savior and cling on to GOD’s promises. GOD hates sins and sinners but is also merciful to them, for that reason, GOD the FATHER sent His Son, JESUS CHRIST so there will be redemption of souls by His grace alone. Now, living under His grace, we should not follow evil ever and hold fast to what is good as GOD works in our salvation. Ed, Bulacan will be affected by this Category 5 Super Typhoon.

    1. You are right about it, Donna, that will be a totally different world, a world that is unfamiliar to us, for now. Because that world is JESUS CHRIST’s Kingdom already. This reminded me of your series of posts on GOD the SON’s Kingdom. May we pray that GOD will continuously work in our salvation and our heart to apply all those things mentioned in this set of verses. GOD bless you, your family, and ministry!

    1. True, JESUS commanded us to love one another! That, we have to walk by faith as part of His way. GOD does work in us so we can love others as we love the Triune GOD.
