  1. Knowledge increases sorrow is right! I have experienced this more times than I care to admit. Ignorance isn’t bliss so not advocating that. Praise God for the Holy Spirit being our Comforter, Helper, Advocate etc.

    1. True to what the preacher has said Mandy! In my reflection, in the lenses of Disaster Risk Management, knowledge on the planet’s peril (glacier retreat included) increases sorrow knowing that countries and islands/areas below sea level and those that are constantly bombarded by typhoons/cyclones/hurricanes will someday be overwhelmed by its intensity (with the rise of global temperature). Yet, in all these, we trust GOD knowing He is in control and sovereign. True, the HOLY SPIRIT comforts, helps, and advocates. Blessings to you, Nathan, and your family!

        1. To conclude on 🌡🔥⛈🌪❄, GOD indeed is sovereign and in control of all His creation. Trusting on Him is the best way not to fright more on Climate Change. 🖐🎤 ☝

  2. The Preacher is right on target as usual. All our knowledge and all our enterprise cannot straighten what God has made crooked or cause us through knowledge alone to discern rightly those things that God has decreed. So our misery increases but for God’s grace in giving us His word and his Spirit, the source of our joy. How wonderful the providence of God!
Grace and peace to you and yours, Kent.

    1. You are right, Dora! What GOD wills and ordained, there is no escape or lasting human intervention; the Bible alone has many examples on this. True, the only way not to increase our misery is to discern/know what GOD the FATHER wills through the prodding of the HOLY SPIRIT and trusting JESUS CHRIST in our life. The Preacher, as we will find out in the succeeding verses, has so many concerns/reflections in his life and lives of others. All these boils down to trusting GOD in what the “voice” refers to as fear GOD. Blessings to you and your family!

    1. Strangely enough though that even if we have a heart of stone and depraved, yet there is a yearning for the good side or what is norm or what is right. Yes, Jim! It does increases sorrow because we cannot correct all wrongs, solve everything, nor have the capacity to be right (and sustain it) out of our own. That is how valuable GOD is in our life that we only have to trust Him in loving fear, follow Him by faith, and acknowledge Him in everything that we do. Blessings to you and your family!

      1. Stated so accurately: ” It does increases sorrow because we cannot correct all wrongs, solve everything, nor have the capacity to be right (and sustain it) out of our own.” How e need the Gospel.

  3. These are sobering words, not to discourage but to forewarn us and steady our ship in Him for the coming storm. The more we soak in His word the more clear is the peril of the godless around us. We can warn of the coming storm, but many will not believe us and drown in their sin. In this knowledge of His Sovereign control we keep praying, knowing His will is Good.

    1. That is a direct hit, Alan, a great insight! It is a forewarning of what we will experience in this world and a caveat to “steady our ship” i.e. faith in GOD to make sense of everything bad, good, and in-between. The Book of Ecclesiastes shows that faith in GOD is needed as life and one’s world is unraveled by storms and other ways. We are grateful to GOD for revealing Godly wisdom/insight to us so we are prepared and at the same time drawn closer to GOD by faith and trust in Him. Blessings to you and your family!

    1. Likewise, Crissy! A blessed weekend! We are secured because GOD is sovereign and in control of everything. Yes, Ecclesiastes has many insights but must be seen in the lenses of trusting JESUS CHRIST. King Solomon, in his older days, was like a jadded person and saw that wisdom is not sufficient to make sense of the world he operates. Yet, in tomorrows verse, he saw the need to fear GOD. The “voice” also stressed that in the Book.
