You are right, Mandy! It is near identical to Psalm 139:13-14. This is to confirm that GOD knows us, His created, since before the universe/dawn of time. In this case, GOD knew, love, and chosen Jeremiah that He consecrated him and appointed him as a prophet to the nations (v.5b). Blessings to you and Nathan!
Wow good passage picked in this series. It shows how God is a God of election. Strange how some Christians deny election can still quote this verse favorably. But very appropriate with your point about God’s sovereign grace and His election!
Grateful to GOD for His direction and the resources that He leads us to discover along the way, Jim. Indeed, the act of election is GOD the FATHER’s sovereign grace for us, unworthy sinners. He did the unconditional choosing even before we were born and before creation as His sole prerogative. You are right, it is strange to know on that. The election is hard to deny as there are verses that emphasize it, including JESUS’ pronouncements. But for us, we give to GOD, who created us, His sovereign right. True! Our Creator GOD, who is Omniscient, Omnipresent, and Omnipotent, knows all of us from hair to nail and how we lived our lives. Although, He knew us but He chooses/elects us unconditionally regardless of how we lived our lives because He is GOD.
