What a well-known yet oft ignored command from our Lord! Our earnest, sincere, passionate and persistent prayer is far more welcome by our Heavenly Father than we realize. Perhaps we think that given God’s sovereignty our prayers won’t change things. But so loving and gracious is the Lord our God that He invites us to take hold of His promises by faith. I wonder if Jesus in the following verse is making the same point? “From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force.” (Matthew 11:12)
True, we ignored this and in certain ocassions, we don’t pray on the hard petitions, fearing that GOD cannot grant nor respond to them. Sometimes, when we perceived that GOD does not answer our prayers, we simply lost hope in praying to Him. GOD has a “far more better answer” in mind to what we asked of Him; either we realized it now on earth (by GOD’s hand) or know the whole thing in Heaven.
That is a good idea that we should include in the post someday. Perhaps after these line up of verses, we will delve on that particular verse. What we know is JESUS was crucified and His followers were persecuted. With everything that happens now, we know GOD is in control and sovereign, and you’re right, “we hold on to His promises by faith.” Blessings to you and your family!
The verse/statement of JESUS CHRIST, gives us hope to ask/seek/knock for the salvation of our churchmates and family. By any chance you are playing C&C Rivals (mobile)? While waiting for my laptop to reboot a few minutes ago, I had an opponent in the game named Slim Jim. Weekend blessings!
Three stages of prayer that begin with “asking”. Asking is the easiest, seeking and knocking requires more commitment to prayer, and the Lord Jesus promises that, it will be given, that we will find and that it will be opened.
I grateful that you posted this and that I read it just now,
Take care
Have a blessed evening Clark.
When I edited this graphic last night, I was reminded of you mi amiga! Hola Crissy! Tienes razón y muchos gracias que estas son etapas, a saber; pregunta, busca y llama. Nunca vi esa luz antes. Yes, I got help from GT. Yes, it is incremental and we do it fervently, a commitment as you’ve said. If it is our Savior JESUS CHRIST who said it, then we are confident that GOD the FATHER answers it in JESUS’ name. Tambien! Weekend blessings!
I love this! I tell people if they want to remember the order of these verses it is literally ASK ask, seek, knock! Jesus tells us to ASK, it is a simple memory device and it will change our prayer lives when we use it! Much like how the Disciple’s (Lord’s) Prayer changes our focus and mindset when we pray according to Him and His will being done. Love and blessings, brother.
Mandy!! You are right! It is an easy recall! A.S.K .GOD! Very true, like intensely pounding a door, especially if some evil/temptation is following, as our eternal life depends on it. Great point indeed, as JESUS CHRIST taught us and taking a line or two from the Lord’s Prayer, “lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.” You are right about prayer especially the focus! So many distractions even on prayer sessions. It is also a humbling approach, mindset as you’ve said, that we cannot do anything apart from Him and a form of grateful praise to the Triune GOD who sustains every second of our life and works in our Salvation. ASK! Weekend blessings!

I don’t think that is me as I don’t know what C&C rivals; what a coincidence!
