I have been reading from Martyn Lloyd-Jones collection of sermons on the Sermon on the Mount today. This parable complements Matthew 5:3 (ESV): “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven,” Jesus said. These sinners who know they are sinners and feel their utter poverty of spirit in the presence of God will enter the kingdom while the self-confident & self-reliant are left out. Sinners come before God saying,
“Just and holy is Thy name, I am all unrighteousness; Vile and full of sin I am, Thou art full of truth and grace.” (Charles Wesley)
Thank you for your insight, Dora! Thank you also for this wonderful reference. Indeed, it is the best to listen to GOD’s call of repentance and start a life by faith in His SON, JESUS CHRIST. A blessed weekend ahead to you and your family! Good night!
Likewise, Jim, I appreciate your edifying comments that encourages our readers to draw closer to GOD. Also for the nod to give me savings in time; thank you and I appreciate it now! 🙂👍
Amen po! Maraming salamat po sa insight nila! Totoo po na kailangan iyon at lalo na po kung magtiwala kay HESU KRISTO bilang Panginoong DIYOS at Tagapagligtas. Blessings to you and your family!
The worst is when I am like this son and do not do what I say I will do. I can be so uncommitted. Just yesterday there was a 23 year old female beside me on the plane who was going to take an Uber from the airport to home. Her home was 45 min in the opposite direction from me. I asked if she wanted a ride and she was appreciative. Once I found out she checked a bag I asked her if she would be ok taking Uber because it can take forever to get luggage at bag claim at our local airport. I have felt bad about not giving her a ride, like I missed an opportunity to share Jesus. This gives me a whole new appreciation for having all the details before asking someone a question!!! Thanks for this parable, very timely!!!!
Thanking GOD that you arrived safely. Thank you for sharing your recent experience! Appreciating your experience gives these thoughts. One, GOD has a purpose and reason for everything including missed opportunities. Missed opportunities leads to further resolve to do it in the future in JESUS name (not ours). Two, we should not be too hard on ourselves because we are not perfect, only the Triune GOD is perfect; that is why we need GOD in our lives, we need Him to guide us among other things that we depend on His Lordship. For the reason, we constantly ask for GOD’s help in our sanctification process. Three, yes we strive to be pure, holy, and perfect on this world (that is filled with temptations) but focusing on the perfection of every step loses the need for a Savior and Lord GOD. GOD is the source of it all. And four, guilt trip is not the solution but asking GOD to grant/bless us with an opportunity to share the Gospel is the best approach. True that we are sinners and the Bible has described a lot about the human condition but we have the Triune GOD and we must trust Him to transformed our lives and renew our hearts to make us do things according to His will. So, no worries about it. I too have occassions like that with RCs and a JW years and years ago. Blessings to you and your family!
