  1. Kent,
    The wonder of the father’s grace is that his eldest son had nothing like it in himself though he too experienced it even as his father came out to him. He felt he had earned it. This sort of thinking stole all his joy at his brother’s return. Is this the source of our mistrust and lack of faith at times? We all need to listen to what is being said here, a hope of receiving God’s grace as well as a warning against overlooking its unmerited favor.

    1. Hi Dora,
      Our Lord GOD and Savior, JESUS CHRIST showed us in His Parable repentance, forgiveness, extent of GOD’s grace, and rejoicing when a sinner/brother/sister changes ways by following Him, among many possible lessons here. There are many possible ways too to view this but taking cue on what you mentioned, it could be that the eldest son, left alone to manage the inheritance, was too engrossed with the work than what he truly inherited (by his father’s grace as his father has the prerogative to give it to someone else). The labors and stresses along the way, made him partially blind to the true meaning of grace and not because of the over confident notion that he have it. Not realizing all along that because of his inheritance/given grace, he owns the goat and the fattened calf because his dad divided his property already (and is just living with him). With his hard work in mind, he didn’t care neither his father’s grace to him nor for his brother and is still without joy as the Parable closes. With his approach/appreciation to his inheritance, naturally he reacts like that and without joy (our Lord GOD and Savior indeed, is an amazingly marvelous Script Writer). Going back to your question, yes, not truly knowing and imbibing the meaning of GOD’s grace at times lead to mistrust and lack of faith with GOD. The reaction of the eldest son reminds me of John 8:7. Blessings to you and your family!

      1. Thank you Kent. John 8:7 drives it home. Spiritual pride has no place in God’s household, in his family. It will always keep us “outside” the celebration of His glory and grace. Have a restful night in Christ brother.🙏

        1. Amen about it, Dora! GOD is the source of our Salvation and even faith so there is no point to be proudful. Aside from John 8:7, another verse is Matthew 7:1. That is so relevant in tomorrow’s subseries.

    1. GOD’s amazing grace, that “sweet sound that saved a wretch like me;
      I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see.” True Jim, we should be grateful and celebrate/praise GOD everyday for such a huge huge gift. Not only a gift of afterlife but a renewed life in this world all because of GOD’s amazing grace. Celebrate GOD’s amazing grace! 🎆🎇✨🎉🎊 Blessings to you and your family!

    1. Yes, Crissy! We should celebrate and strive to have joy in our heart everyday; knowing what the Triune GOD did and is still doing in our life here and for our glorified life worshipping Him in Heaven! GOD, in His prerogative/choice, was merciful by rescuing us from a comdemned sinful path in rebellion to Him. This, reminded me of Ezekiel 37. Hallelujah indeed! Blessings to you and your family!
