You are right, Donna! GOD will never abandon His own children both in their day-to-day need (oxygen among so many others) and salvation! We are so grateful to our unchanging GOD that He loves and gives us strength in spite of our imperfect lives. This set of words was what Moses said to Joshua as he transfers leadership to him. Giving Joshua an assurance in GOD not to fear their adversaries. Blessings to you, your family, and your ministry!
We certainly have the best reason ever to “be strong and courageous” with Almighty God. This exhortation appears ten times in the OT which highlights how important it is.
Thank you for this information, Alan! You are right, it is important. By appearing 10 times in OT alone, we should not doubt that the Triune GOD is there for us and will deliver us from “tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger and sword” (Romans 8:35). Ergo, we should be strong and courageous because we trust Him. Blessings to you and your family!
Indeed Diana, it is a great promise and relevant for us today even if it was uttered by Moses for Joshua’s encouragement amidst the might of their adversaries. As Paul noted, if GOD is for/with us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31) When the HOLY SPIRIT indwells in us because we have faith in JESUS CHRIST, we should be strong and courageous as our fate is assured, knowing we have already a right relationship with GOD the FATHER. With the Triune GOD, no earthly thing or power can dissuade/separate us from Him nor destroy us. Blessings to you and your family!
You are right, Jim! It is a courage inspiring verse. GOD strengthens and encourages us. He is the infinite source. With all the Truths, assurances, and promises to look forward too that He revealed to us, we should not be dismayed for long. It is true that in GOD’s presence, we should be bold to serve Him. Blessings to you and your family!
No He will never leave or forsake his own. He is our strength. God bless.
