Is this the most recognizable parable of all?! And for good reason. Everyone wants to be loved like this, unconditionally. But only One is able to love us like this so perfectly: our Heavenly Father. May all prodigals who read this and see the tenderness of the graphic remember their Father and return to Him.
May all who read this heed your call. This is an invitation to trust GOD the FATHER, in His unconditional love, to come to Him and asking Him to renew their life in faith in JESUS CHRIST. It is also the right opportunity to repent and ask the HOLY SPIRIT for guidance thereof. That will be the best start in a (sanctified) journey to Heaven. Blessings to you and your family!
Just read this from Horatius Winslow’s “Morning Thoughts” based on “And I said, You shall call me, My Father; and shall not turn away from me.” Jeremiah 3:19
“God is our heavenly Parent. His presence, His care, His smiles are ever with His children. And if there be a solitary child of the one family that shares the richer in the blessing of the Father’s presence than another, it is the sick, the suffering, the lone, the chastened child.”
Grace and peace, Kent, to you and yours this day.🙏
Thank you for sharing this edifying and assuring thoughts from Horatius Winslow, Dora! The message is clear, we should seek, receive, and confide to GOD as we did to our earthly parents. A peaceful blessed day ahead!
As is well known the father running and showing his ankles in that time period would have been indecent and taboo. The father ran with such quickness because in rabbinic literature/Talmud if the towns people got to the prodigal first they would throw a stone pot and break it in a kezazah ceremony saying that the prodigal was cast out of the covenant community because he went to live with the gentiles and as we saw previously, he literally lived with the pigs. The father in this parable running, shaming himself by exposing his ankles saved the prodigal’s life. Every time I think of this I love our Heavenly Father even more. He truly rejoices when the lost come home. Love and blessings brother.
Mandy,
Thank you for sharing this valuable bit of socio-historical context. This adds a whole new dimension to the parable and makes it that much more thrilling as we recognize the full significance of what Jesus is telling us about our Heavenly Father! I’m so glad I checked back “by chance” to see if you had commented :>)
“How deep the Father’s love for us”

This background helps a lot Mandy, as it foreshadowed what the Triune GOD had done to save and keep His children even when they sinned ugly like the prodigal son. To ensure that His children’s sins are cleanse and they will have a right relationship with Him, GOD the FATHER sent His SON to be the propitiation for our sins. JESUS CHRIST, in His own accord was totured, shamed, and crucified to save so many prodigal sons and daughters among the rest that GOD keeps. With our Lord GOD and Savior risen, we now have a way to GOD the FATHER as we are guided by the HOLY SPIRIT. GOD’s immeasurable Love and Mercy indeed! On a different note, the meeting between the prodigal son and his biological father reminds me of the chariots of fire scene and theme. Blessings to you and your family! Good morning!
I totally missed this brother! Can you believe Nathan has NEVER watched Chariots of Fire 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️I will have him watch that this evening my time! Happy Saturday when you wake up!!
Yup! It is 80s. Actually, I forgot the story except the running. Woke up early at 7:00 AM for an early morning chore and task, Mandy. I have not watch the Blue…oh I forgot the title.
What a timely and divine coincidence, Michael! This is actually an 8-part subseries. Indeed, one can surmised that this is the most popular Parable. Blessings to you and your family!
Grateful to GOD for the availability of this rare picture, Jim! It is so awesome to imagine that GOD “ran” and stretched His “hand” to a helpless (like that baby who cannot save himself) sinner to give him/her Salvation and hope. What a wonderful and amazing grace! Blessings to you, your family, and ministry this wonderful Fryday! A blessed weekend!
GOD is not bound to human (Jewish) traditions. JESUS CHRIST indeed emphasized that when one repents in humility, GOD accepts him/her enthusiastically. The Triune GOD is not reclusive nor exclusive so there is no scare if the person approaches Him in prayer. With what you said, Jim, we can surmised that those Jews at that time who did not understand JESUS’ parable were scratching their head with their thought of impossibility.
You surely like it, Crissy! Yes, I am grateful to GOD that, that one picture is available. It is not what I imagined for the featured image but it is the best available. Indeed, GOD in His loving mercy, sees to it that we will know and seek Him. As we ran to Him, GOD also runs to us, holds and keeps us until forever. Blessings to you and your family!
The picture brought to mind the words of Jesus:
“Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.”
Matthew 18:3
A blessed and peaceful evening to your Clark.
Take care & keep safe 🙏🤗
I agree with you Crissy! It really takes the faith like that of a little child. Like a cup that is 1% full and in need to be filled/poured with GOD’s Spirit. You are right, this is indeed the right graphic, thank you. I’m grateful to GOD for directing to this graphic. It is not what was envision originally but it turn out good. GOD indeed had a better plan and that is something to ponder on. Tambien mi amiga! Keep safe and take care also, you and the little 🐟🐠! 😊
True! When GOD forgives our sins and we are aware of that through His Word, it should take away the guilt especially when we have the faith that He can and will forgive us. Blessings to you and your family!
You are definitely right, Donna! Despite knowing our sins/rebellion from before creation, GOD the FATHER choose us still our of His mercy, grace, and divine prerogative! Blessings to you and your family!
I meant to tell you I am having trouble replying to your comments on my site. I don’t know if it’s my internet or yours. I keep getting a message that it failed to send.
There are many possibilities to it. It could be that WordPress is updating either both our sites or one of the sites. Sometimes, it is internet connectivity. A refresh in the internet browser or WordPress App can help.

Indeed to think that in the Jewish culture men with honor don’t run…but the Father ran to the son!!!! So moving to meditate on this
