A big difference in Peter, Dora, and in contrast with Judas’ approach. True, he was sure that JESUS will forgive him. In all the years he was with JESUS, he knows Him to be merciful and have faith that He is the Messiah, the CHRIST. GOD is merciful to Peter also that he did not succumbed to his “earthly sorrow” but waited to be forgiven. In the next two posts, we will see the results of his faith or repentance after denying JESUS CHRIST. Likewise, blessings to you and your family!
Peter has to undergo that embarrassing process to make him realized the abundance of JESUS’ mercy. Also, for all of us to to have hope and faith in GOD in His saving grace even when we are sinners. GOD strengthens our faith and help us in our sanctification. Blessings to you and your family!
I can’t even imagine how horrible Peter felt after he realized what he had done. But he turned it around and went on to become a great Apostle and teacher. This is a great lesson – that we have the capacity to learn from our mistakes and to turn a negative act into a positive one, for the betterment of the whole world. Jesus knew what he would do, and he also knew that Peter would grow from it. So many times I have questioned events in my life and blamed God, but things always turned out for the best. God already knew what would happen.
So very true, Dawn! GOD, who is Omniscient, has a reason for everything that happened and will happen in our life and it led/will lead us towards having a firmed/solidified faith in JESUS CHRIST. Everything is according to GOD the FATHER’s plan, we can trust Him on that, and we can hold on/rely to the Truth that all things will work for those who love GOD (Romans 8:28); all for His glory. You are right, just like Peter, GOD does make us realized our mistakes, by the guidance of the HOLY SPIRIT, so we can “turn a negative act into a positive one.” Peter knew and have faith that GOD will forgive him. And when it was affirmed by JESUS (will be shown in the next sets of posts), he has resolved to served Him even to his end. Someday, we will see him worshipping GOD in Heaven. Blessings to you and your family!
He was sure of himself. What he learned through repentance was that his only surety is Christ Jesus. Have a blessed weekend, Kent!
